Premier League clubs battling for young Brazilian star

Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool are all keeping tabs on Brazilian youngster Thalles, who is making a name for himself at this summer’s Under-20 Toulon Tournament.

A host of Premier League clubs have scouts in the south of France to cast an eye over some of the hottest prospects in world football and Thalles caught the eye in Brazil’s opening fixture by scoring the opening goal in a 2-0 win against South Korea.

The 19-year-old, whose full name is Thalles Lima de Conceição Penha , plies his trade for Vasco da Gama in his homeland and scored four goals in 13 appearances in the Brazilian Campeonato Carioca.

Thalles, who stands at 6ft 1in tall, also scored twice in three Brazilian Cup matches, underlying his growing reputation as one of the Samba stars’ brightest young talents.

As well as scouts from the Premier League, clubs from across Europe were present to see him score and are likely to be so again on Saturday when the Brazilians play their second game of the tournament against Columbia.

Their final game will be against England in Saint Raphael, France on Monday kicking off at 7.30pm, where plenty of scouts are again expected to be in attendance.
